Beautiful Hotel with nice staff and amazing food

The staff is very welcoming, always smiling. Calm and beautiful ambience. The food is to die for especially the buffet at the African Restaurant; 10/10. Special thanks to Victor and Said at the front desk for the warmest welcome. Asante Sana!!!!! The breakfast had a lot of varieties to choose from.

Amidst the relaxation and nice place, some nuances warrant attention. The privacy of specific amenities, such as the private outdoor shower, was occasionally compromised by shared usage, detracting from the sense of exclusivity. Additionally, the presence of peddlers around the resort grounds, despite being managed by the vigilant security team, sometimes disrupted the tranquil ambience. While the staff exhibited warmth and professionalism throughout our stay, there were occasional delays in response times, suggesting areas for improvement in service efficiency. Furthermore, the requirement of an additional fee for first-aid services, while reassuring in its availability, may deter guests seeking immediate medical assistance. The second bathroom shower was clean; however, the water was stinky. The first shower was ok, but there were problems in the second shower's plumb.

What was the highlight of Kiwengwa Beach Resort

Very Nice Stay

It was a very nice stay and a very a family-friendly resort. Almost like it’s own estate and in the middle of the jungle with how they have designed the hotel. There’s so many different animals (birds, turtles, butterflies, etc). The staff were incredibly friendly. The resort had multiple pools. I particularly loved the vibrant atmosphere with the DJ playing music everyday as well as a variety of activities offered, such as aqua-gym, stretching, aqua-polo, and volleyball. The beach was also nice - quiet and peaceful, unlike the more crowded spots like Nungwi. The security would always draw a line on the sand between hotel guests and the overbearing Masai, so that they don’t cross over to the hotel to annoy guests. The room I stayed in was the family room, felt like an apartment. The air conditioning was powerful, keeping the room VERY cold, and the shower had strong water pressure. We also really enjoyed the buffet, offered a variety of delicious meals. The African restaurant was fantastic! A big thank you to Angela, she was exceptional! She assisted us with anything that we needed (and got it done!) Housekeeping forgot to include enough towels for us as we were a big family, we told her and everyday we got towels in the right number. She was always available and asking if everything was going well. You made our stay wonderful. Also, thank you to Alexander (the great) for your wonderful hospitality.

The family room while large, is not properly furnished and furniture seemed a bit old, there were multiple cracks through the doors. I also felt like housekeeping was in a rush to clean and always felt like there was sand on the bed, not properly cleaned off. The toilet in the room had a weird odor (but not sure if other rooms had the same?) also, when you open the door to the family room, both rooms are on different sides. However, the first thing you see is the bathroom when you walk in, it had see through doors and this is a bit annoying when you have a large family. Rossini restaurant could be better.

We had a fantastic 10-day family holiday. The hotel's location is right on the beach, which is cleaned every morning. At this time of year, there was some seaweed, but not too much. The hotel's territory is very green, featuring a few turtles and parrots in the yard and cages, as well as many large wild lizards (guru-guru) roaming around. The kids were amazed. We had two separate rooms. One was very large in a bungalow with two apartments next to the beach and the sea-water pool. The second was also well-sized, about 100 meters from the beach. We enjoyed all three restaurants. Each is worth trying, but the African one was a very pleasant surprise for everyone, including the kids. More than anything, I would praise the staff. They are all very kind and friendly, always trying to help and doing their best for the clients. Thank you all for the incredible memories: the reception team, client manager Angela, and Zabron, the big boss of the main restaurant! We celebrated our son's 7th birthday, and in addition to the famous "Jambo Bwana Hakuna Matata - Happy Birthday" song and the cake, which everyone gets from the restaurant team, we were allowed to use the romantic beach boat as a private venue. It was beautifully decorated and reserved just for us. This was the best child's birthday celebration out of all 40 attempts so far. Local people on the beach can generally be trusted, at least for booking reef excursions with a small booking fee. From our experience, the price should not exceed $10 per person or $30 per boat. I recommend bargaining for everything, as a price reduction of about 50% can usually be achieved. Every person on the beach will try to sell excursions and taxi services, which can be annoying, but also useful if you plan to travel somewhere. Usually, it is cheaper to book with one of them and then negotiate with the same person or driver for the rest.

The Maasai and local people on the beach can be annoying at times, especially when they start commenting on your activities

Relaxing and memorable stay…..

Staff was very welcoming and best choice in Kiwengwa. the restaurant manager prepared some local dishes based on request. The beach was nice and less touristy considering the nungwi. It is almost in the center of island very accessible to all others destinations. My family really enjoyed the stay in the hotel.

I encountered multiple times cockroaches in my room and solution they gave me was insect killer spray, with the price the least thing to expect. Also the powder from the wood in the ceiling was falling every day. The variety in the restaurant menu is limited and if you stay long term will feel repetitive.

Victor and Said I will come back again

The food was very nice and delicious in all three restaurants. Victor and Said are very helpful people who work from their hearts to make a difference in Kiwengwa Resort. Victor was very careful about small details we required and Said excellent customer care. They are really customer oriented and skillful with a lot of care. Angela also helped us. The housekeeping is doing really a good job in the cleaning. Beach is clean and public areas are well maintained.

Very Good

The location was breathtaking, felt like you are in paradise. Kiwengwa Beach resort is great for everyone, especially for famalies. So much to do at the resort from swimming in 1 of 3 pools or ocean, playing volleyball, tennis, planned activities in the day, shows at night etc. The staff from management, to waiters, kitchen, housekeeping, gardeners, animation team - everyone was super friendly and accommodating. Variety of delicious food options.

The drive to the resort is not pleasant. The roads and infrastructure are in desperate need of an upgrade, and witnessing the poverty that most people in the country live in, followed by arriving at a stunning, first-world resort, presents a stark and sad contrast. The beach vendors (Maasai included) can be very persistent and even pushy, freely approaching adults and children alike. There is security on the beach but there is only so much they can do since it's public property. I wouldn't recommend doing the sea excursion in July to see dolphins. The ride is very bumpy and not for the faint of stomach.
